The wisdom of birds

I was thinking that, despite all the talk about mankind intruding into the realm of nature and animals, birds seem to make quite a bit of use of human creations. For example, they enjoy sitting on telephone lines, or little nooks on the tops of buildings. Then it occurred to me: is it possible that birds, using a form of mind control, have actually been the cause of all of humankind’s progress? Have they been spurring our technological efforts in order to dot the landscape with tall structures they can reside in? What if the birds decide to cease their efforts — will mankind descend into brutal savagery? The answer is obviously yes, yes, a thousand times yes!

Maybe in the next step of the bird’s plan they will begin to drive cars, sail ships, and operate other forms of machinary? And maybe then birds will take over the factories and begin manufacturing machines which they have designed to achieve ends which only they can understand? Will we wake up one day to find ourselves as mere slaves in a World which has been wrested from our control?

Hey, better birds than the fuckin’ Mexicans.
